A copy of the CoP Newsletter - May 31st

We had another enthusiastic and well attended CoP meeting held at St Bernards on 31st May.  A big thank you to all our guest speakers – Sean Hadley & Tricia Van De Pavero (Ovens and King), Mini Gigliotti (Open Door House) and Susan Alexander (Autism Coach DEECD). It is always rewarding to hear about the great services available within our community and connect with others.

Please mark in your diaries the next dates for our meetings this year:
August 23rd 2013 – 12.30pm -2.30pm GALEN COLLEGE Wangaratta
November 29th 2013 – 12.30pm – 2.30pm

The minutes for the meeting are attached to this email and will be available from the blog.

A reminder that the blog is being updated regularly - http://wangasdcop.blogspot.com.au/ - if you have any flyers, events or points of interest please email: kerrig@autismmansfield.org.au

Agenda Items flagged for next meeting include: Funding Options (CSNE and other agencies) and Mansfield Autism Statewide Services (a refresher on services available).

One action that was raised during this meeting was to lobby for a change in the Grade 6 Review of  Funding application (DEECD) – we would like to see the review date moved to Year 7 to ensure continued levels of support through transition and their first year of high school. This can be quite a challenging time given the enormity of change.  It was hoped that we could begin the push for change by raising it at the principles network meeting however this was not possible – thus will need to begin by penning a letter. If anyone is passionate about this issue and would like to write the letter to get the ball rolling then please let me know.

There are lots of events coming up…hopefully something takes your fancy..
